FAQs for Parents

Here are some frequently asked questions from parents; if you have any other specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at MacArthur's Main Office 516.434.7225.

ParentPortal Questions

Where can I access the log in page for ParentPortal? Here --> http://levittownschools.com/parentportal/

What does "--" mean for an assignment grade? The dashes mean the assignment is either pending or has not been entered yet. It has no affect on your child's average until a score is entered.

Why is my child's grade marked a zero, when they were excused absent from school? Without putting a zero in as a placeholder, your child might not be aware they owe an assignment. Typically, upon seeing the zero (and their average drop), students make up the work much faster.

If you have any questions about grades after checking ParentPortal and speaking to your child, please email me at K2Schaefer@LevittownSchools.com or please call the MacArthur Main Office at 516.434.7225.

AP World History
When is the AP Exam? The College Board administers all AP exams in May. Check the class homepage for that exam's date. Exam registration is handled through the College Board, online via AP Classroom, and in person by the Guidance Office. Students are required to join a class on AP Classroom and send a check to the Guidance Office to have an AP exam ordered for them. This process happens in October, so please be sure AP Classroom is set up. Click here for the entire AP Exam schedule and fees.

How is my child's grade calculated? All assignments are graded out of a certain number of points. Grades can be viewed in Parent Portal and will be updated throughout the year. Please check their progress periodically.

How can my student make up a quiz or test he/she missed when absent? They should come see me and we'll go over anything and everything they missed while they were out. I am available by appointment and can have students take make-ups at this time. Use the link to the left "Extra Help Schedule" to assist you further.

Will the university/college my student attends accept the AP Credit for this course? How much money does this AP actually save me????  Every school has a different policy regarding AP Credit. Please visit: http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/apcreditpolicy/index.jsp to search individual schools and view their specific policy for each AP class.
