I am delighted that your child is in my class this year. With your encouragement, your child will part of many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year. Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, I have developed a classroom discipline plan which affords every student guidance in making good decisions about his or her behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing environment. The plan below outlines our classroom rules.
- Follow directions the first time.
- Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
- Speak nicely to each other without name calling, teasing, or yelling in class.
- Stay in the classroom, unless you have permission to leave.
- Walk in the classroom and hallways.
- Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
We will have a color coded card system.
Green: Your child has followed class rules and will receive a certificate at the end of the day, join our class “Super Star” club, earn a sticker on his or her incentive chart, receive class wide rewards such as playtime or extra computer time, verbal praise, etc.
Yellow: Warning to change inappropriate behavior and a 5 minute time out
Red: 5 minute time out, loss of playtime, child does not earn his/her certificate, and child does not earn a sticker on his /her incentive chart; note or call to parent.
Please note that before a child’s card is changed to yellow, he or she will first receive a verbal warning to change his or her behavior. At all times throughout the day, children will be encouraged to get back on green by all their teachers.
