About The Teacher/Coach
Mr.Pollack will be coaching this 2020 season with Mr. Marerro, Mr. Marerro, a former
MacArthur lacrosse player and Wrestling stand-out and coach, will head up the Salk Boys' Lacrosse Team.
Mr.Pollack is an alumnus of the Farmingdale High School lacrosse program, winning Nassau Conference A, and going to 2 consecutive county title games.
He played college lacrosse at SUNYBrockport for all four years, where he lead his team in ground balls his senior year.
He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Sciences where he graduated in the Eta Sigma Gamma health honor society.
Mr. Pollack has a Masters degree in Physical Education with honors from Hofstra University, and an Administrative degree from SUNY
Stony Brook with honors. Mr. Pollack has been teaching and coaching in Levittown for 20 years.
Prior to coaching at Salk, Mr.Pollack was a "Lacrosse Specialist" and "Group Leader"in addition to coaching a Wayne County Camp
Championship team at Camp Chen-A-Wanda in Thompson, Pennsylvania. Mr. Pollack was head
instructor of Huntington Parks/Recreation boys' lacrosse program, and
assisted the Webster JV Boys'Lacrosse team in western NY, upstate. Mr.Pollack was
head coach of the Levittown JV Girls' lacrosse team for four years before coaching
boys again at Salk. Mr. Pollack is currently in his 17th season as Salk Boys' lacrosse coach and has received "Coach of the Year" honors.
Mr. Pollack has coached travel lacrosse for the L.I. Riptide, Legacy, Summer Generals Lacrosse, and Farmingdale PAL.
In the summer, Mr. Pollack is Head Supervisor for the Farmingdale Youth Council Summer Recreation program @ Woodward Parkway school.
In addition to lacrosse, he coaches Boys' Soccer at Salk and is a Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.
Mr. Pollack is married, has 2 sons, John and Luke, and a golden retriever named Kona and a beagle named Smokey.
Mr. Pollack is a Jets and Mets fan. He also enjoys
reading, surfing, listening to music, fantasy football, mountain biking, and staying in shape.
Tips for Pre and Post SEASON:
Stay out of trouble!
Join ANY available teams in your area; the more experience you get, the better!
Ask coaches and experienced players for help
Watch college and varsity games to learn and for motivation
Work the wall whenever you can or catch with a friend
Stay in shape: Do sit-ups, push ups, pull-ups, cardiovascular/muscle endurance exercises
(There's a lot of RUNNING in Lacrosse!)
Stay active with other activities, and of course,
Be prepared, have a good diet, and keep your goals in tact!
